The Beat Box of Tricks

This is a past event from Manchester Science Festival 2018.

Ever wondered how a beatboxer imitates a full drum kit? Or why some singers are low and husky while others are bright and falsetto? Prepare to be mesmerised as acoustics maestro Professor Trevor Cox and singers from the RNCM give you a fascinating earsight into the human voice. No singer can reach those notes on an empty stomach, so the café will be open and selling pizza and drinks so you can keep your voice sounding smooth and stop your belly from beatboxing too.
