A photograph of children in the sensory sound pit

Sensory sound pit

This is a past event from Manchester Science Festival 2016.

What does the world look like when you perceive sound through your hands and eyes, as well as your ears? Enter an immersive, tactile environment where sound is represented by shape, touch, motion and visuals, inspired by current neuroscience research into the way the brain responds to sound.

Di Mainstone, Artist in Residence for the European City of Science, has collaborated with musicians Mandy Wigby and Howard Jacobs (The Architects of Rosslyn) and creative technologist Paul Miller to produce the installation.
