Jars of pickled veg lined up in a row.

In a Right Pickle

This is a past event from Manchester Science Festival 2018.

Does a little crisp and crunchy veg pickle your fancy? Get stuck in to making your own pickles and take them home to keep for the winter. It’s a great way to use up spare greens that might otherwise go to waste and do your bit for the local food revolution. Chop, scrunch and mix up spices and salts whilst discovering how good probiotic bacteria creates lactic acid, preserving these veggies to create something delicious. We’ll make veg crowns with accompanying little ones and we’ll have loads of recipes, and pickles, to play with. Remember to bring your own recycled jar and lid.
