Manchester Science Festival 2011
22 - 30 October 2011

Out of this world: A spacetacular Manchester adventure (Fully booked)

It is rocket science

Please note that this event is now fully booked.

Join us for a night at the museum as we embark on an epic journey into the depths of the universe… Learn about the cutting-edge science of space with local scientists, space fans and museum presenters, through space-comedy, space-cocktails and (er) space-craft.

Highlights of the evening include Spacetacular! – quite possibly the first stand-up comedy/science/fancy dress/variety/quiz show entirely themed around outer space (presented by BBC Radio 4's Helen Keen, quizzing spacemaster Matt Brown and local space scientists), a specially created planetarium show and a campervan journey into the imagination of legendary astronomer and author, Carl Sagan.

Our Spacetacular line up has now been confirmed! You will be wowed and entertained by Jodrell Bank researchers Jen Gupta and Melis Irfan, science communicator and space nut Huw James, aerospace historian Jakob Whitfield, space industry expert Grant Munro, and planetary science whizz Sheila Kanani (coming all the way from London!).

Dress code: Whatever you like including normal civilian clothes, but anything space-y is especially encouraged – and there’ll be free tinfoil & futuristic galvanized steel wire pan scourers available on arrival.

Concessions: students, OAPs, job seekers, disability and carers
