Holograms in action

Smoking test tube

For many, the word ‘hologram’ conjures images from sci-fi classics like Star Trek or Total Recall, but come along to this talk and you will be able to view a hologram of a 14,000-year-old decorated horse jaw bone.

Professor Hans Bjelkhagen will talk about how full colour holographic imaging technology can be used to produce 3-D holograms of historical artefacts for display, meaning that smaller museums will no longer need to borrow key pieces from national museums to exhibit them.

There will be a light buffet immediately after the lecture.
