Why ginger takes the biscuit in helping save the stag beetle

Ginger biscuits

Delve into the secret world of the stag beetle, our largest terrestrial beetle. Only by finding a way to monitor it can we conserve it. Discover how they can be monitored using ginger, and why this kitchen staple is so irresistible. Listen to the sounds made by larvae in their underground nests. Investigate its ecology and the challenges it, and other deadwood species, face.

Dr Deborah Harvey has been awarded the British Science Association Charles Lyell Award Lecture.
