Recent outbreaks of swine flu and bird flu put society at threat. Experts who research such disease and healthcare professionals will talk about their work, swine flu and the threat pandemics pose to society.

Join Professor Joanna Verran, a microbiologist from Manchester Metropolitan University and Dr David Baxter, Lecturer in public health from the University of Manchester, for a lively debate about how we are dealing with the recent flu outbreak and the measures in place for future pandemics. This event will be chaired by Professor Michael Warbouys, from the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine.
