Almost half the population of Guernsey fled to England in June 1940, just prior to the German Occupation of their island.
This event uses oral histories of Guernsey WW2 Evacuation and the English Home Front to show, in an accessible way, how war affects ordinary citizens through dislocation and displacement. Activities for children include a 'Guernsey Evacuation Ship' activity and a local school project on 'Evacuees in our School'.
Other activities include: 'Meet the Guernsey Evacuees', film screenings, display boards, and an opportunity to handle WW2 artefacts.
