DNA technologies have the potential to impact on us all and many people expect DNA testing to become routine within medicine. What can your DNA reveal? Will we all become the ‘worried well’? Come along to this event to hear from experts and discuss how much you would want to know.
If you are interested in this subject, you may like to watch Gattaca on the 29th of October. With an introduction by evolutionary geneticist David A Kirby, this film explores a future where parents pick the best from their genes to create the ‘perfect’ child. The result? An Orwellian society where unapologetic discrimination is rife and those born with the best set of genes are automatically allocated the best careers.
