From developments in IVF to modern investigations into disease and the ageing process, the life sciences have attempted to answer these questions through the rigorous study of the human body and its origins. Recent developments in cloning and stem cell research raise new philosophical and bioethical concerns, placing this topic at the centre of our understanding of what it means to be human.
