From birth to death
A Life Sciences model explained via live link up from China
At the heart of our quest to understand the human life cycle are the fundamental questions of existence. Where do we come from? Where do we go? From developments in IVF to modern investigations into disease and the ageing process, the life sciences have attempted to answer these questions through the rigorous study of the human body and its origins. Recent developments in cloning and stem cell research raise new philosophical and bioethical concerns, placing this topic at the centre of our understanding of what it means to be human.
The School of Life Science and Technology at Tongji University in Shanghai is an international hub for this kind of scientific research. Professor Lei Xue, Professor of Genetics will address recent progressions in the discipline and their implications for human development via live link-up from China at this very special event.
