The country’s most popular science festival returns for its most exciting year yet! Expect a vibrant and packed programme of events for families, schools, young people and adults once again.
This year, we’re celebrating the International Year of Biodiversity; learning more about our amazing planet, highlighting the plight of the bee and knitting some endangered species. But that’s not all. You’ll have the chance to explore all things science; how to make chocolate, lust vs love, the latest gadgets, the secrets of sporting success and much more.
There’ll be sweet music, hilarious stand-up, heated debate, crafty workshops, hands-on activities, stories and science busking. Watch out for our series of trailblazers, giving you a flavour of the Festival and join us at one over 200 events throughout Greater Manchester this October.
The Festival team are working have to create an amazing science festival for you this year. The Festival programme will be live at the beginning of September. News and trailblazers will be added to the website over the summer and the full programme will be available in September.
Manchester Science Festival runs from 23 – 31 October 2010 plus trailblazers throughout the summer.
Manchester Science Festival Schools programme for year 8 students will run on 19 and 20 October at the Printworks in Manchester.

On Saturday 21 August Manchester Science Festival is heading to Jamaica Day at Longford Park and Stadium. Jamaica Day is a community Festival with loads of activities for the whole family. We'll be there science busking to the masses and knitting microorganisms! So come along and try a fizzy rocket, hear the secret sounds of the oven shelf, learn about the germs on your body and knit your very own virus.
11am - 3pm Saturday 21 August, Jamaica Day, Longford Park and Stadium
This event is free and there’s no need to book – just turn up!
