Now the sowing season is over, we've been taking extra care looking after of our Turing's Sunflowers. We've been busy weeding the grow boxes at MOSI and planting the extra seedlings that staff have been growing. We've also been taking care of sunflowers the team are growing at home. Natalie, Festival Director has had quite an influx of slugs due to the wet weather. She's been putting non-toxic slug repellant round her planters to keep them at bay and putting stakes in the ground to combat any effects from the gales. A few are flourishing, but some are sucumbing to the weather.
For our experiment to succeed we need as many sunflowers as possible to flourish and become a flower. Please do look after them and follow the Turing's Sunflowers blog for tips and ideas for caring for your plants. The MSF team have also been blogging their story.
If you have any of your own tips, please share them with the project online via Facebook and Twitter. Or email them in and we'll share them with other growers.
Good luck to all our growers!
