Manchester Science Festival 2011
22 - 30 October 2011

What is Manchester Science Festival?

Manchester Science Festival is a nine day programme of events through the city and Greater Manchester.

We bring you some of the best scientists, from Manchester and beyond, who join us to discuss their work, the UK’s most cutting-edge research and what the future might hold. From Dalton, Joule and Rutherford, to the Nobel Prize winning discovery of graphene, Manchester is at the very heart of science in the UK and the Festival is your opportunity to question the experts.

We are constantly creating new projects and creative events, many of which are for adults only. This gives you the chance to learn, explore and think about science through dance, music, fashion and art.

At the centre of the Festival is our family programme including science shows and hands-on activities to keep your little monsters busy during half term.

As well as the main Festival programme, we also run a successful community programme which we have built upon each year. You can find us at community Festival or taking some of events to community venues throughout Greater Manchester.

Our Festival video provides more information about the Festival and gives you a real taster of what to expect at Manchester Science Festival.

It is important, now more than ever before, that we engage with science, inspire young people and nurture the scientists of the future. The Festival is an opportunity to bring science to life and encourage young people to be excited by and question the world around them. Just as importantly, however, the Festival is a chance for people of all ages to have fun and explore what science means to us.

As we celebrate five years of this fantastically creative and collaborative science festival, a huge thank you goes to all our sponsors, supporters, partners and audiences. The Festival has grown from strength to strength and it would not have been possible without your support.
