Musical Cosmos

This is a past event from Manchester Science Festival 2017.

Did you know that pulsars can sing? Sound artist Gary Fisher invites you to join him as he creates soundscapes made from cosmic recordings captured by deep space listening devices. Gary uses found sounds collected from his surroundings, radio tuners and electronic sounds in his work. After stumbling across sounds recorded at Jodrell Bank (where the radio telescope picks up pulsars and waves from outer space and transforms them into audio) he knew a creative response was in the offing. Join him as part of an open studio / laboratory that will see Gary weave a brand new musical composition from the raw sounds of cosmic science.
