Girl with headphones, accompanying the Hip Hop Science Stop, for Manchester Science Festival

Hip Hop Science Stop Weekender

Science gets streetwise this weekend with Jon Chase, the 2017 winner of the Josh Award, our annual science communication competition. Listen to science raps from across the globe, discover science through graffiti, delve into some of the tech that helped create the culture of hip-hop. You’ll also get to interact with all sorts of multimedia exhibits, take part in a series of street science challenges and see how science can be explored using everyday products and waste materials that most people throw away.

Josh Award winner Jon Chase is a BBC Bitesize science presenter and a science rapper, who has produced science raps for the BBC, Channel 4 learning and NASA amongst others.  He is also an author having recently co-written a book about the Science of Star Wars as well as the soon to be released Science of Harry Potter.
